What’s Good for Ohio’s Kids?
Our Priorities In Ohio’s 2023 General Assembly and the Upcoming FY 2024-2025 Budget Debate

• We SUPPORT the Fair School Funding Plan, including the full phase-in of recommended funding for school districts serving children living in concentrated poverty.

• We OPPOSE any expansion of vouchers—whether in EdChoice (Senate Bill 11) or in a Backback Bill (an education savings account [ESA] universal school voucher program)(House Bill 11).

• We OPPOSE Senate Bill 1 (House Bill 12), which would move many of the responsibilities of the Ohio State Board of Education to a cabinet position under the Governor and undermine the role of the State Board of Education.

• We OPPOSE the culture war bills facing the Legislature, bills that prohibit teaching about race and fully serving LGBTQ students.

• We OPPOSE House Bill 1 or any tax cut that would reduce state income taxes, reduce state funding for public schools, and thereby result in increased reliance on local property taxes—all to produce a tax cut for wealthy Ohioans.
