Northeast Ohio Friends of Public Education (NEOFPE) is a citizen driven, non-partisan organization committed to informing Northeast Ohio citizens about public education issues in Ohio and engaging them in supporting and strengthening public schools.
What’s Good for Ohio’s Kids? Our Priorities
We support public schools that are accessible to all children, serve each child’s needs, and protect, by law, the rights of all children.
We oppose the use of public funds to privatize education because privatized alternatives extract essential funds from the public schools, are not accountable to the public, and do not protect the rights of every student.
WHY the FAIR SCHOOL FUNDING PLAN?
We support a state school funding formula that is adequate, equitable, and reliable.
We oppose school accountability that ranks and rates schools based on annual standardized achievement tests, that emphasizes test prep, and that destroys the joy of learning.
WHY REJECT CULTURE WAR LEGISLATION?
We oppose the culture war attempts to prevent public schools from eliminating racism and homophobia because we believe public schools must serve every child in our communities.
